On 3-5 June the international three-day Development Forum took place in Līgatne, Latvia. It was one of the main events in the field of development organised during the Latvian Presidency. The forum of community activists and leaders, policy-makers and decision-makers focused on glocalisation (interaction between the local and the global), and the increasing of public understanding about global issues and their links to our everyday life, and how our daily choices impact the global challenges.
The Development Forum aimed to raise public awareness about global development issues and promoted the potential of cooperation initiatives among communities as a tool for global development.
Participants had interactive discussions, they listened to inspirational stories and shared their practical experience and knowledge with local activists from different countries and sectors, and internationally recognised opinion leaders, deepening the understanding about local and global processes and seeking particular opportunities for further cooperation in order to create a common sustainable future.
