Development forum

DEV_forums_engThe central international event in the field of development cooperation organized during Latvian Presidency in EU Development Forum – will take place from 3rd to 5th of June, 2015, and will emphasize the idea of glocalization as the key to sustainable development in local to global levels. Development Forum aims to raise public awareness about interconnection of global and local issues and to encourage cooperation of local communities dealing with  global challenges.

During Development forum we will share our experience of living within a global world with local and national activists and international leaders, thus enriching our understanding of local and global interactions as well as envisioning positive local and global futures. Our discussions will result with resolution that would forward our hopes to policy makers and will be transferred to European level advocacy.

Evenings of the Development forum will be enriched by getting to know each other, our daily lives within local communities, our culture, traditions, sounds and dances or with the charms of Ligatne, being fascinated by the new experiences it has to offer, be it history, culture, nature or human action.

Last day of the Development Forum will involve us in travelling workshops where we will explore inspirational local community development stories.

Three day forum will gather 70 development cooperation NGO activists, local community grassroots representatives and opinion leaders from Latvia and 50 from European Union, Eastern Partnership countries, etc., eager to develop hopeful global and local futures.
