Visit of Ukrainian culture experts to Latvia

On 6 and 7 December, 2023, Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for European Integration, and a delegation of twenty representatives of the Ukrainian cultural sector, including journalists, opinion leaders, representatives of public administration and the non-governmental sector, will visit Latvia.

As part of the visit, an international forum “International forum “Ukraine EU integration through art and culture: Connecting Ukraine and Latvia” will take place on 6th December from 9.00 to 13.30 at the School of Public Administration in Riga.

The event will be opened by the Latvian Minister of Culture, Agnese Logina. The forum will include presentations by Latvian experts on structure of government and policy planning system, implementing innovations Latvia’s public administration structure, culture policy in Latvia: policy planning, creative industries and cultural heritage, as well as two panel discussions with representatives of Latvia and Ukraine - “European cultural space: Experience of Latvia” and “Rebuilding cultural space in Ukraine”.

Deputy Minister Taras Shevchenko will meet with Minister of Culture Agnese Logina, Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Inga Bērziņa and representatives of the media, culture and academia, as well as Žaņa Lipke Memorial and the National Library of Latvia.

During the visit, the delegation will visit Latvian National Museum of Art, Latvian National Library, LIAA Creative Industries Incubator, Riga Circus. Later, the experts will travel to Kuldīga and Aizpute to get to know the work of its active citizens and culture industry representatives.

The visit and the forum are taking place in the framework of the EU-funded project “Restoring Ukraine Together”, implemented by the Ukrainian NGO “National Interests Advocacy Network ANTS. The visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Latvia is organised by the Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation (LAPAS).
